The Texas Tech School of Medicine chapter of WA-SAMA (Women's Auxiliary of the Student American Medical Association) was formed in 1972. The chapter was not only the first medical student spouses' organization at Texas Tech, but also the first WA-SAMA chapter in the state of Texas.
